Why Spend Your Holiday In Rimini, Italy
Rimini still one of the best places to spend your holidays or enjoy a weekend break. Rimini is situated on the North-East coast of Italy and is considered one of the most equipped vacation resorts in the whole of the European Union. Rimini has more than 300 hotels and they all get filled up during the summer period. The beautiful town of Rimini with its 130,000 residents turns into a two-million holiday capital which has no other comparison. To get a rough idea, just typing “Rimini” on Google Earth and you’ll see miles and miles of beautiful and fully-equipped beaches. But the type of people who choose having a vacation in Rimini have slightly changed over the years.
Since Rimini’s first years as a capital of tourism in the 1960s, Rimini and the small town of Riccione have been considered the centre points of transgression. For example, Viale Ceccarini, the fashion walkway of the region, was the place where the best shops were situated, the most important celebrities and fashion icons of Italy and other European countries were easy to find and drag queen shows were frequent. Here there was one of the greatest gay communities of the Italian peninsula as well. The majority of foreign tourists used to come from the United Kingdom, Germany and France. This is also the reason why many of the residents in Rimini have Saxon, German or French surnames.
Things in Rimini are a little different today. Italy has caught up with the rest of the European Union and become an expensive country but long-distance flights have become much cheaper than ever before. For this reason English, Swedish, French and German tourists prefer taking a vacation in more remote and southern places than Rimini for the same price. Having said that, beautiful Rimini is still a very inexpensive place to spend ones holidays thanks to the competition which arises among the large number of hotels, guest houses and apartments in Rimini.
More and more tourists from Eastern Europe are taking advantage of the opportunity to have a vacation in a fashion-oriented city without breaking the bank in the process. It is very common nowadays to see Czech, Polish, Russian and Hungarian tourists around in Rimini. Rimini has also turned into a more family-oriented tourist destination even though there is still a great number of bars and areas dedicated to the younger crowds. Despite this fact, the number of tourists in Rimini is still increasing year after year. Fashion district areas in Riccione have now been transferred to the seaside area of Rimini and features beach bars, garden terraces, night clubs, and of course the more “Elite” private clubs. It also is quite common to see limousines parked along the beach of Marano during a typical summer Saturday night.
